Departing at dawn from Mirissa harbour, this tour heads into open water in search of blue whales, sperm whales and playful pods of spinner dolphins. Experienced boat operators follow responsible wildlife-watching practices to minimise disturbance while maximising the chance of a sighting. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing on Mirissa’s beach or exploring the nearby coconut tree hill viewpoint. Activity level is light, best undertaken from November to April, and the tour is best started from Mirissa, Weligama or Galle.
